After the series of videos emerged, Marin vehemently denied that she had taken drugs and said she had not seen anyone else doing so at the party she attended at an apartment after returning from summer vacation.
“I didn’t do anything illegal,” he told reporters in Helsinki on Friday. “Even in my teenage years, I have not used any kind of drugs.”
The married leader, who is one of the world’s youngest heads of state, said she knew she was being filmed dancing with friends in the flat – but had no idea the footage would be made public.
The Social Democrat leader later insisted that her ability to carry out her official duties remained intact during her party — and that she would leave if asked to work.
“I don’t remember a single time when there was a sudden situation in the middle of the night to go to the State Council Palace,” Marin said. “I think my ability to function was very good. There were no known meetings in the days when I was partying.’
A separate clip later emerged showing Marin – who has been married for two years to Markus Räikkönen – seemingly dancing intimately with a mystery man in a packed Helsinki club.
