Coming early 2023. #PSVR2 pic.twitter.com/R3MwWVPyNt — PlayStation UK (@PlayStationUK) August 22, 2022 It probably didn’t take a genius to figure out that PSVR2’s release date would be early next year, but this is the first time we’ve heard the company officially mention it. The Japanese giant has generally been pretty secretive about the device, revealing information in a sparse manner and only announcing a few games so far. Earlier in the year, as part of a State of Play livestream, the company confirmed that Resident Evil Village, No Man’s Sky and The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2 Retribution would all be playable on the handset. He also presented a long trailer for the production of the first part, Horizon Call of the Mountain. As far as virtual reality headsets go, the PSVR2’s specs are above the nearest competition. The device promises an OLED screen resolution of 2000×2040 per eye – which is more than double that of the original PSVR. It also features new motion controllers, which feature haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and finger tracking. Of course, all of this raises the question of price – and it’s something the company will need to take the Band-Aid off soon. Still, at least now you know to start saving, eh?
