A police officer in Eden Prairie told reporters that a shot was heard at the Scheels store and a man was found dead. The incident happened just before 7:30 in the afternoon Eden Prairie Police Chief Matt Sackett confirmed the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and said this was “an isolated incident.” The lockdown was lifted from 9.20pm but Scheels remains closed as police gather evidence. Chopper 5 captured shoppers exiting the mall as they were allowed to leave. A person who asked not to be identified told 5 witnesses that he was inside Scheels when a worker yelled, “Gun!” (KSTP) “I heard a bang, it didn’t sound loud enough to be a gun, I didn’t know what it was, but it was obviously a gunshot,” he said, adding that everyone ran out of the store. Police say there is no immediate danger to the public.
