There were no injuries in a recent near miss on the Hibernia platform. The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board reports that Hibernia Management and Development Company reported an incident that occurred on August 17. Workers were moving a 711 kg overhead feeder bridge adapter plate using a certified sling rated in excess of 2,000 kg when the sling failed. The slab fell approximately 4.8 meters onto the adjacent mezzanine deck below. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the failure.
