A couple who lost their home in a fire early last month is back in a new RV at Evely Campground, thanks to the support of friends and family. Tiffany Pare says she, her fiance Michael and her son Mathew returned to their North Westside campsite Sunday after the July 6 fire. They narrowly escaped the fire at the recreation area where they are in charge of the site, and Pare suffered burns trying to save their pets, which perished in the fire. The family had been staying with friends since the fire, but are now back at the same campsite after ICBC handled the removal of burned vehicles and Rec Sites & Trails BC “cleaned up and maintained the site.” Pare says the site was “leveled and new crash added” and crews removed seven or eight trees that were partially burned in the fire. “We certainly don’t want a windstorm and a downed tree falling on our new RV,” he said Monday. Friends and family came together to raise enough money to buy a new fifth wheel trailer. “It would take forever to go through ICBC,” he said. She is “devastated” by the support they have received. “Oh my god… overwhelmingly beautiful. Such an amazing feeling,” Pare said. “We felt the love so strongly. With their vehicles also destroyed in the fire, the family is currently getting around in Pare’s son’s winter vehicle. Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate the fire, which has been ruled arson with disregard for human life. RCMP have yet to make any arrests and are looking for anyone with information or video from the area on the evening of July 5 from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. on July 6. “I woke up at 2am, I don’t know why I did it. I just did. I got up to put out a light (no light was on…it was a fire) and I discovered smoke coming in the kitchen window from outside. “I looked over and one of our chairs accidentally caught fire and the side of the RV went up in flames,” Pare said in a Facebook post shortly after the fire.
