BC’s integrated homicide investigation team has been deployed to Mission following a fatal stabbing. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Monday, RCMP dispatch responded to a report of a man suffering from life-threatening stab wounds in the 7200 block of Park Street in the Fraser Valley community. Police, ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scene and administered first aid, but the victim died from his injuries. IHIT has taken over the investigation and is working with the Mission RCMP, the BC Coroner’s Service, the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section and the British Columbia Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit on the case. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident unrelated to the Lower Mainland gang conflict. The victim has been identified, although his name has not been released to allow time for family notification. “We’re still in the early stages of the investigation,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. Investigators were working Monday to scour the area for witnesses and video. IHIT is asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the area between 1 and 4 p.m. [email protected].
