International aid arrived in the country on Monday as efforts continued to evacuate many thousands of people trapped by conditions caused by the “monster monsoons”. Authorities say this year’s disaster is worse than 2010, when floods killed 1,700 people. The conditions have swept away villages, crops and 800,000 livestock – but there are fears the floods may not yet have peaked.
