We have one marginal risk for severe thunderstorms later this afternoonand it all depends on how the rest of today plays out here around Metro Detroit. A weak disturbance moving in overnight still brings a few showers and thunderstorms early this morning and could slow you down for that Monday morning commute. These showers won’t last long and should be gone by 8am as we try to clean up. We may face more problems if the skies clear this morning and afternoon. Partly cloudy early this morning with temperatures starting in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Today’s sunrise was at 6:56 AM We may see scattered strong to severe thunderstorms later today due to the heat and humidity in metro Detroit, creating an unsettled atmosphere. Highs will reach at least the mid-80s, with a chance of landing near 90 degrees if we stay in this hazy heat. A warming wind will become SW at 7-17 mph, with gusts as high as 20-25 mph at times. one D A line of storms will likely develop after 4pm today, moving in a line from west to east. These storms will produce some heavy rain in no time, so be careful to collect and collect as we slow down for the evening drive. A few storms could also produce gusty winds over 50 mph, which could cause some damage. And there’s the deadly threat of lightning late this afternoon to early evening.

There is a chance that line of storms will slow and produce these storms later in the evening and overnight. We should be on the lookout for some storms late tonight and early Tuesday, but storms tend to lose much of their strength without the heat of the day. Here is the weather forecast for Metro Detroit.
Thunderstorms Tuesday morning
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible until 7 a.m. Tuesday before we start to see some very different weather. Tomorrow, we’ll see some sunshine in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 80s. Winds will be SW at 7-17 mph, with gusts as high as 20-25 mph at times. one D
Milder rest of the week
Sunshine mixed with a few clouds will see on Wednesday a very pleasant day to get over the hump. Highs will settle into the lower 80s with low humidity and a nice breeze moving WNW at 8-18 mph, with gusts at 20-30 mph. Thursday will be much the same with morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs cooling a bit into the mid 70s as an early fall feel. Friday will be mostly dry with sun and clouds and highs nearing 80 degrees.
It might rain this weekend
The weekend ahead is far enough away to have more of a wait and see mentality. Computer models hint at a dry day Saturday with increasing clouds and highs in the 80s. Sunday will be a little windier with showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. We’ll keep you posted as we get closer.
