The incident was reported shortly after 7pm local time at The Forum Mall in Bend, a small town on the Deschutes River, about 130 miles southeast of the Oregon capital, Salem. The alleged shooter is among the dead, the Bend Police Department told ABC News. Police believe the armed suspect entered the back of the mall and first fired into a Costco parking lot and a Big Lots store. No injuries were reported at either location, police said. That person was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead, police said. The suspect continued inside the supermarket, shooting and killing at least one additional person, police said. Officers who responded to the shooting entered the Safeway and found another person, believed to be the shooter, dead inside the store. The officers did not fire, police said. (Central Oregon Daily News) At a news conference late Sunday, Bend Police Chief Mike Kranz told reporters the suspect was carrying an AR-15-style rifle and a shotgun. The identities of the suspect and victims have not been released. Krantz noted the size of the crime scene, saying it will take time to collect and process all the evidence.
