Police in Kelowna say they made multiple arrests at an out-of-control party in Glenmore Friday night. RCMP say they were called by city bylaws at 11:22 p.m. for assistance regarding a large party at a home in the 200 block of Crossridge Crescent. In a press release, police say they had to use pepper spray to gain control of the crowd. Edited video of the party sent to Castanet shows police trying to gain control of a large crowd of youths on the front lawn of a home. “This was an extremely volatile call, the situation was frightening for neighbors and resulted in multiple RCMP officers suffering minor injuries,” said Const. Mike Della-Paolera. Prosecutors are facing charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Six people were kept in the drunken tank until they sobered up. Paramedics were also dispatched to treat people who needed pepper spray decontamination. “Every party has the potential to get out of control when it is not properly monitored and controlled. Talk to our youth about a safety plan when they plan to use alcohol and drugs,” Della-Paolera said. “It is essential for hosts to understand their legal and community obligations to host safe and respectful parties. Communication is vital, especially in planning ahead of events where alcohol and drugs will be consumed.’ RCMP say an investigation by police and Kelowna Bylaw is ongoing and further charges are being considered. Investigators say there were “several” people who videotaped the party and police response.
