Well-wishers calling themselves ‘the Nee family’ left a note near the home where nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Corbel was shot dead, it emerged today – days after ‘intended target’ Joseph Nee was arrested.
Olivia was fatally shot when a gunman chased the convicted burglar into her family’s Dovecot home before opening fire in an atrocity that also injured her mother Cheryl, 46.
The note attached to the flowers read: “So sorry for the loss of your beautiful Olivia. Rest in peace, thinking of all [the family].’ It is not known whether the “Nee family” refers to Joseph Nee’s relatives.
It comes as Merseyside Police launched a fresh appeal to trace the gunman – warning anyone withholding information that they were protecting the killers.

A 33-year-old man from Dovecot was arrested following a stop investigation when he was found to be in possession of a Rolex watch, which was believed to have been stolen.
While two men, aged 18 and 22 from Wavertree and Speke respectively, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. dangerous driving; possession of bladed article and assaulting police.
Officers attempted to stop a Volvo car driving erratically in Derby Road, Bootle. A short chase ensued and the assailants attempted to flee but were apprehended by police officers who were nearby. One of the men was found to be in possession of a knife.

“The actions of these individuals have also drawn our attention to organized crime groups who are destroying the lives of decent, law-abiding members of the community and we are acting on information that comes in to remove them so we can make our roads safer for the future.
“Information from our communities in relation to the killings continues to come in and we act on all information we receive.
“To kill Olivia in her own home, the place where she should have been safest, has crossed the line and detectives and plainclothes officers are working around the clock to find the person or persons responsible.”
Dozens of officers from the Matrix anti-gang team took to the street in the Dovecot area of Liverpool for grueling searches that lasted several hours.
A local suggested that police investigating the nine-year-old’s murder could have received new information overnight.
“It’s the biggest police presence we’ve had here since last Monday when he was killed,” the resident told the Sun.
“They were looking under cars and in gardens and they seemed to be looking for something specific.”

Last night an underworld source claimed the gangsters who ordered the shooting of burglar Nee – which led to Olivia’s murder – were “feeling the heat”.
It comes as Merseyside Police launched a fresh appeal to trace the gunman – warning anyone withholding information that they were protecting the killers.
It has been almost a week since Olivia was fatally shot when a gunman chased Nee into her family home in Dovecot, also wounding Olivia’s mother Cheryl, 46.
In a short but dramatic video appeal on Twitter, Merseyside Police warned that anyone withholding information should give it up.
During the video, a voice states: “We have parents who have lost their children.
“We have a nine-year-old girl who will not celebrate her 18th birthday. She will not celebrate her wedding. She will not have children of her own.’
As well as images of Olivia and flowers at the scene of the shooting, the video also featured images of Mrs Dale and Mr Rimmer.
Council worker Ms Dale was fatally shot in the Old Swan, Liverpool, on Sunday 21 August.
The 28-year-old, who worked in the environmental health team at Knowsley Council, was found fatally injured in the back garden of a house. It is believed that he was not the intended victim.
Rimmer, 22, was shot dead in Dingle, Liverpool on Tuesday 16 August.
Police said there will be “a lot of officers on patrol” in all three areas that have seen fatal shootings in recent times.
The force tweeted: “They are there to help you feel safe and make sure criminals feel the pressure.”
Two men arrested in connection with Olivia’s death were released from prison on Saturday.
A 36-year-old man, from Huyton, was recalled to prison after breaching his license conditions.
