The White House sidestepped a question about why it continues to let untested and unvaccinated illegal immigrants into the United States while tennis star Novak Djokovic is not allowed in to play at this year’s US Open. Fox News correspondent Peter Ducey asked the Biden administration about the paradox during Monday’s news briefing. “How come immigrants are allowed to come into this country without vaccinations, but world class players are not allowed?” asked White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre. “The US government cannot discuss the details of individual visa cases. For privacy reasons, the US also does not comment on individual traveler medical information as it relates to this tennis player,” he replied. (AP) Djokovic, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, will miss the US Open because of his refusal to be vaccinated. Jean-Pierre deferred the question to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which she said has its own protocols, saying “they’re two different things.” Doocy pressed Jean-Pierre further on his remarks. “Someone unvaccinated comes on a plane, you say that’s not OK. Someone goes to Texas or Arizona without vaccination, are they allowed to stay?” “It doesn’t work like that… It’s not like anyone’s passing,” she replied. “That’s exactly what’s happening!” Ducey replied. “Thousands of people walk in a day. Some of them flip. Some get caught. Tens of thousands a week don’t. It happens.” Migrants are headed for the US border. (Fox News) CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Biden has been widely criticized for continuing to allow illegal immigrants to be released into border towns while showing symptoms of the coronavirus, and the number of immigrants infected with the virus has swelled up nearly 1,000% in some border areas. Earlier this month, the CDC expanded Title 42, a Trump-era policy aimed at restricting immigrants from entering the United States, citing concerns about the coronavirus, but that policy does not apply to children of immigrants. Doocy and Jean-Pierre also argued about politics during their exchange. “Why is there a CDC [vaccine] requirement for people flying here as opposed to people crossing the border?’ asked. “We talked about Title 42,” Jean-Pierre replied. “There is a CDC provision for people crossing the southern border. It’s not just for tennis players.” On April 1, 2022, the CDC announced that it would repeal Title 42. Andrew Mark Miller of Fox News contributed to this report.
