man has been arrested after allegedly trying to pull a woman onto the train tracks at King’s Cross tube station. While the woman was “shaken” but unhurt, the man was hit by a train during the incident, British Transport Police (BTP) said on Monday. Emergency services rushed to the Hammersmith and City Line at the busy London station just before 1.30pm. “It is believed a man tried to pull a woman onto the tracks, before being hit by the train himself,” a BTP spokesman told the Standard. “The woman was fortunately unharmed but understandably shaken.

“While investigations into the incident are at an early stage, it is not believed that the two were known to each other.” The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to hospital for treatment of head injuries. Tube passengers reported seeing emergency services at King’s Cross station. A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.32pm. today to reports of a person being hit by a train at Kings Cross tube station in Euston Street. “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a doctor in a rapid response car, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We also sent a casualty team in a car from the London Air Ambulance. “We have taken a man to the scene and taken him to a major trauma center as a priority.” The incident caused severe delays on the Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines. There is now a good service on the Hammersmith & City Line and minor delays on the Circle Line, according to Transport for London (TfL).
