Forecasters are watching the line of storms move from the west towards Ottawa. A storm watch was issued for Gatineau at 5:21 p.m., but has not yet been upgraded to a warning. The weather service warns that strong storms can produce tornadoes, but even without a tornado forming strong winds, wind gusts can blow loose objects, damage flimsy buildings and snap tree limbs. The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
